TheHub

TheHub is at the heart of Coventry University campus and provides you with the ideal environment for both study and socialising. Throughout the day, the space invites you to relax, meet up with friends or study informally. In the evening, the building becomes a vibrant venue where bars, 700-capacity club, a cinema and performing arts space deliver an excellent experience.

Many student services can be found in TheHub, including; Careers and Employability, Spirituality and Faith, a doctors’ surgery, Counselling, Welfare and Disabilities, a hairdressers and the Institute of Applied Entrepreneurship as well as the Coventry University Students’ Union (CUSU) and a food court.

About the buildingTheHub

TheHub is the greenest building on campus and sets the standard for best practice in sustainable building design; construction and operation.

  • The building is BREEAM excellent
BREEAM is widely used for measuring a building’s environmental performance.

The Hub’s ‘Green’ credentials include:
  • Ground source cooling.  Bore hole on site to recycle cool water from the ground to maintain the temperature through chilled beams
  • Has natural ventilation
  • Grey water harvesting – rain water for loos
  • Solar water heating
  • A green roof
  • Managed by an electronic buildings management system

The £32m ‘Hub’ is just one part of a £150m redevelopment programme at the University’s city centre campus. The first part of the redevelopment was a multi-storey car park with room for 400 cars and the final part will be the new home for the Faculty of Engineering and Computing; due to be completed by September 2012.
