About the IPIDL Research Group

Interprofessional and Interdisciplinary Learning

The purpose of the Interprofessional and Interdisciplinary Learning Applied Research Group (IPIDL) is to develop the body of knowledge of the effects and impact of interprofessional learning (IPL) and interdisciplinary learning (IDL) on education providers and learners.

Of particular interest is the potential of e-learning to promote IPL and IDL. Grounded in Coventry University's applied research philosophy this group will use appropriate research methods to research and disseminate evidence of effective interprofessional and interdisciplinary educational practice.

Aims

  • To act as a focus for interprofessional learning (IPL) and interdisciplinary learning (IDL) research and evaluation within Coventry University
  • To promote links between teaching, which promotes IPL or IDL and research
  • To act as a focus for exploring the ways in which e-learning can be exploited to aid IPL and IDL
  • To develop research capacity of staff involved in IPL and IDL
  • To create networking opportunities for staff interested in IPL and IDL
  • To promote links with external agencies with an interest in the promotion of teamwork, collaboration and partnership through IPL/IDL
  • To develop the profile of Coventry University in the IPL and IDL arenas, nationally and internationally
  • To facilitate dissemination of research on IPL and IDL
  • To inform the development of pedagogically sound resources and approaches to support IPL and IDL
