The Control Theory & Applications Centre

CTAC is an interdisciplinary research centre which has earned a reputation for solving real problems across a wide range of industrial sectors. It comprises three complementary applied research themes dealing with various aspects of control theory and applications.

Each theme has a designated co-ordinator and a team of staff who are able to respond positively and effectively to the needs of industry and other potential clients.

The three applied research themes have their own portfolios of research programmes and consultancy activities:

With the following underpinning theoretical topics:

  • Adaptive Control, Fault Detection & Condition Monitoring
  • Artificial Intelligence & Heuristic Methods
  • Robust Control System Theory & Design
  • Systems Modelling, Identification & Optimal Filtering

CTAC offers postgraduate taught and research degrees e.g. MSc , MPhil, PhD.

Additionally, CTAC hosts the well-established International systems engineering conferences (ICSE) series.
