Aerodynamics
Research in this area is primarily concerned with the use of computational fluid dynamics (CFD) to investigate problems in areas of predictive engineering for both external and internal flows.
Applications cover the aerodynamics of slender bodies (in collaboration with BAE SYSTEMS) and also internal flows associated with heat exchanger design.

Experimental facilities include:
- a low speed wind tunnel with integrated balance
- a flow visualisation smoke tunnel
- a supersonic wind tunnel
- a water flow channel for flow visualisation.
LDA, PIV and HWA facilities for velocity measurement are available within AEARG.
