Biomedical Computing and Engineering Technologies - BIOCORE

I came to Coventry University in 2001 to pursue an MSc in Software Development.  After successful completion of this degree, I joined the BIOCORE research group as a full-time PhD research student in 2003.

My research area encompasses healthcare informatics, artificial intelligence and knowledge management.  I am working closely with my client at the local NHS Primary Care Trust.

Being an international student, doing a degree from outside my home country (India), I found it very easy to adapt to life at Coventry University and the surrounding environment.  The Asian population in and around Coventry ensured that I never missed India; there are lots of temples around the town.

Coventry University has excellent facilities and everything is accessibile.  I have to especially point out the beautiful Lanchester library: I simply adore it.

The staff at the Faculty of Engineering and Computing were very friendly and accommodating, especially my supervisory team in BIOCORE which supported me as my family would.  I also appreciate the opportunities and the assistance provided by the international student centre and their staff.

Finally I have to mention that, due to the help of my supervisory team (Dr Rajeev K Bali, Prof Raouf Naguib and Dr Hisbel Arochena), I obtained a scholarship at the University.  Their continuous support helped to locate further funding for my research with the NHS.

My stay at Coventry University has undoubtedly changed my life for the better and in the future, if given the opportunity, I would always look forward to work closely with the Coventry University and its staff.
