My experience as a research student at the Faculty of Engineering and Computing has been incredibly positive.
I chose to undertake research in the United Kingdom because of the worldwide reputation for the quality of education and training. Especially Coventry University for its background and history as an automotive research and development hub.
One of the best things about being a research student here is that you are surrounded by a friendly, supportive and cosy atmosphere. The Faculty of Engineering and Computing treats research students as equally as other teaching staff and we are actively involved in all the department events, be it academic or social, which gives us a strong sense of belonging. The industrial collaboration which the supervisor team has brought into my project is also highly appreciated.
The research modules offered in the first year and the reviews of my progress have helped structure my work. I received excellent support from the staff and my supervisor. The whole experience has been one where my ideas have been supported, rather than their ideas imposed. I have always felt in charge of my research.
In short, if you are an independent who wishes to do research in a challenging and supportive environment, then I will say that Coventry University is an excellent place to be.
