After two years of studying in Germany I started at Coventry University in 2001 as part of a European joint study scheme. Since then I have carried out a BEng and MEng degree, both in mechanical engineering.

I am currently undertaking a PhD at Coventry University which focuses on the application of Eco-Design in product design whilst integrating functional and economic issues. The final outcome of my research is a methodology and user interface to support the design engineer of complex products during various stages of the product design process.

I feel that I made the right choice by undertaking a PhD at Coventry. The level of support from my supervisors is very good and I am able to see them for discussion at very short notice and quite often. Furthermore my supervisory team consists of three highly skilled academics which guarantees various and valued input that helps promote my research.  Coventry University offers access to a great number of industrial partners which benefits research carried out all the more.

To summarise, I’d say the University offers great service and support for PhD students as well as good research facilities and an exchange with researchers from similar and different fields. I can highly recommend pursuing a research degree here at Coventry University.
