Learning Innovation Applied Research Group

The Learning Innovation Applied Research Group research, promote and delineate innovative learning for higher education and the wider society, and are also active in the user of new media for learning; including development, support and facilitation in immersive environments, problem based learning in virtual worlds (PREVIEW project), and the design and implementation of reusable learning scenarios.

The group has a growing reputation for innovative funded research and are currently undertaking research into the socio-political impact of learning in immersive virtual worlds (CURLIEW project), which focusses on the exploration of three main themes, each of which is being undertaken by a PhD student. In addition, the group have organised and run an annual virtual worlds workshop for the past 3 years, and have received positive and encouraging feedback from delegates attending the day. Monthly educational seminars are also held in the Learning Innovation offices and provide great opportunity for discussion and collaboration.
