Applied Research Centres and Groups

Applied Research Centres (ARCs) are teams of at least 15 academic, business support staff, contract staff and research students who pursue a common applied research activities to achieve clearly defined agreed objectives.

Applied Research Groups (ARGs) perform similar activities but often on a smaller scale, with teams made up of at least three members.

Centres for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETLs)

CETLs are aimed at rewarding excellence in teaching and learning across all subjects in higher education. Coventry University was one of only a handful of UK universities awarded funding for not one, but three such prestigious Centres.

Institutes

Through its institutes, the University provides high quality buildings and facilities to support staff and partners undertaking applied research activities. The aim of each institute is to create an environment which supports a unique combination of commercial activity and academic research.
