About ERTOC

Efficient Reliable Transportation of Consignments (ERTOC) is a TSB Sponsored collaborative Logistics R&D Programme. It enables freight users and operators to make more informed choices based on the efficiency and increased awareness of the true financial and environmental cost of transporting goods.

This is realised through the development of a standards based open architecture data hub integrating driver behaviour monitoring and coaching, consignment tracking and vehicle tracking and fleet management using telematics based services.

Information from each of these functions will be provided via a platform independent, open application programme interface (API). Data fusion and analysis will provide a substantial opportunity for partners to develop significant new applications that enable customers to improve the efficiency of their business.

The benefits of this type of system will allow the calculation of actual carbon shipping cost of individual products. The system provides opportunities for carbon tracking over a number of transport modes.
