This course will give you a thorough understanding of assistive technologies and prepare you for implementing these technologies in you own workplace.

Course content

The MSc Assistive Technology comprises a series of modules designed to improve your technical knowledge, expertise and product/service management skills.

The course is open to health and social care professionals, individuals working in the area of development and implementation of assistive technologies, and senior workers from independent or voluntary organisations that work with older or disabled people. The course will be undertaken on a part-time basis over one year. 

This is a new course offered in association with the Health Design & Technology Institute (HDTI) at Coventry University.

Modules will include:

Assistive technology and the wider perspective
The current social, political and legislative contexts, the service user perspective and ethical issues

Evidence-based assistive technologies
Assistive technology provision, including environmental control systems, augmentative devices and alternative communication

The product development process
The design, development, testing, evaluation and marketing of new assistive technologies

Work-based learning project
An opportunity to explore an area of interest
