Working at the University

Our University is a stimulating, diverse and enthusiastic organisation that is committed to delivering the very best experience for our students and staff alike. That's where you come in - If you would like to achieve the personal satisfaction of making a real difference to people's lives through your own individual contribution then we'd like to hear from you.

Our campus

Our purpose-built, city centre campus stretches across 33 acres of the city and is continually developing and evolving.  We have excellent access to the region's roads and rail networks and the city's extensive shops and lively restaurants and bars. We are a major presence in Coventry and, as a strong contributor to the city's friendly and vibrant atmosphere, we are able to foster many successful business partnerships and links.

We are investing £160m in our campus over the next ten years, including construction of a new Student Enterprise Centre and a high-tech Faculty building for Engineering and Computing. We also have a 'smart campus' thanks to our investment in IT. There are more than 2,400 student PCs on site and the campus is fully Wi-Fi enabled.

The University has also created the impressive 20-acre Coventry University Technology Park. The park is home to the University's 'TechnoCentre', a unique complex that offers a focus for training, conferences and business opportunities. Located nearby is the Enterprise Centre, a £3m development providing dedicated accommodation for new small- and medium-sized enterprises.

The University has a nursery on campus, which has been established for over 20 years offering high quality childcare for University staff and commercial parents. The nursery is registered with Ofsted for up for 49 children with an age range from 3 months to 4 years old. The staff are all qualified to a NVQ level 3 or above and many have worked here for over 15 years, offering continuity of care to the children.

Our award winning library is of interest to many visitors due to its highly energy-efficient design. Occupying approximately 10,000 square metres it is home to over 1,200 study areas, 450 computer workstations and a wealth of learning materials and information services, with a bookshop and café on site too, as well as being completely naturally ventilated.

We have excellent sports and recreation provision on- and off-campus and staff have access to the University's £4m Sports and Recreation Centre, which boasts a state-of-the art air-conditioned health and fitness suite, a four-court hall, a two-court hall and a dance studio. In addition we have our own indoor sports facility at Westwood Health, about five miles from the main campus.  The ground has floodlights, with astroturf and grass pitches as well as first class provision for cricket, rugby and football.

We also offer a number of excellent social and recreational facilities on campus, including the Riley Lounge and Suite, Jaguar Post Graduate Centre Sandwich shop and Chapters – the library cafe.

Our staff

Coventry University employs approximately 2500 staff in a variety of roles across the campus.

Students

Our students benefit from state-of-the-art equipment and facilities in all academic disciplines including health, design and engineering laboratories, performing arts studios and computing centres. Through our links with leading-edge businesses and organisations in the public and voluntary sectors, our students are able to access project and placement opportunities that enhance their employability on graduation.

Global presence

We have offices in China, Kenya, Nigeria and India and from October 2010 we will be offering MBA courses and postgraduate top-up courses through our London campus.  To find out more about our global agenda, please view our interactive world map.
