About the event

Created in 1993, the European Union has developed into the world's largest international single market .Now including 27 member States with a population of approximately  500 million people it is a bigger trading area than the US and Japan combined.

Effectively  the EU Single Market is our internal market.  It is already a central element of the West Midlands trade and business flows with eight of our top ten export markets in the  Europe Union and over 50% of UK exports going to Europe.

Europe is already important  to many SME’s experienced in dealing with one or more of these important markets. And for SME’s new to export, as a result of the single market, trading in Europe can be more straightforward than other global markets in terms of barriers and administration –  it could  be a good first step.

Each European country is different and to be successful in trading with these markets good business practises must be followed and opportunities identified.

UK Trade and Investment, and the Single European Market Group, would like to invite West Midlands businesses to join them for this one day seminar on Trading with the European Union  to provide both expert advice and showcasing the best the West Midlands has to offer in European  support.

The seminar and workshops will look at the opportunities for business arising out of both European Union Directives but also from the individual country markets of  Europe with the opportunity to meet country experts.

A panel of SME managers will outline how they successfully ventured into European  markets – discussing   language and culture, negotiating, developing relationships, identifying opportunities and markets.

There  will also be a mini-exhibition which will showcase the support, advice and funding that is available to help you develop your European trade activity.

I believe this seminar is a great opportunity to listen and speak with experts on both individual European countries , on the reality of doing business by those who have successfully been there and the opportunities arising out of Europe.
