Employer liaisonEmployer Liaison - Careers & Employability Service

A team of experienced staff within Careers & Employability work closely with employers, businesses and external partners to offer a wide range of predominantly free services that will meet your recruitment and development needs.

Our aim is to provide a supply of motivated students for placements and graduate jobs. To that end, the Careers & Employability Service run a number of programmes and initiatives that will reduce the cost of recruiting an intern or an employee for your company.

University works with IBM and JLR to deliver innovative employability modules

Coventry University has one of the most innovative and comprehensive employability programmes in the UK with more than 11000 undergraduates students taking accredited ‘Add+vantage’ modules each year.

Two of these modules have been developed in association with IBM and JLR and are designed to give students unique industry insights and experiences, including opportunities to understand the skills requirements and recruitment processes of these important graduate recruiters.

Students are involved in a range of practical activities which help them develop their career management skills, including developing effective CVs, completing application forms and being able to present effectively at interview. Representatives from the companies, working with Lecturers and Careers Advisers from the University, are involved in the training and assessment of students through the 10 week course and provide realistic insights into what students will need to have a chance of securing graduate roles in these types of organisations.

Students have the added benefit of having personal mentors from these companies who have been chosen because of their interest and expertise in supporting undergraduate students and helping them make the transition from university life to the graduate working environment.

Students are also provided with opportunities to visit the employer workplaces, to gain understanding of how large and complex organisations work and to hear first-hand from staff working in these companies what skills they will need to be successful.
