Student Profiles
Fanny Monthe, BA Advertising & Business
I heard about Coventry University through a recommendation from a previous lecturer and at informative talks held in the British Council branch in Cameroon. The talks allowed me to interact with representatives from the university to gain more information and evaluate my options.
Advertising and Business
I chose the Advertising and Business BA Honours degree course because it was interesting and challenging. I had support from my lecturers to facilitate learning and acquire the necessary skills to carry out my course work.
Currently, I am working on some course work that is very effective in preparing me to face real job experiences.
Work Experience
Whilst studying at university I worked as a student ambassador on Open Days. This was a really great experience, which contributed a lot to my integration into the community. Being a subject ambassador has helped to boost my self confidence.
I have also had the experience working as a marketing assistant in a local college, offered to me by the Employment Placement Unit in the faculty of Business, Environment and Society. Arrangements about payment, hours and workload were made and controlled by placement unit. I was given good advice by the team about successful interview tips and I was provided with a great reference from the faculty.
The Campus
The University has a great IT structure, which enables access at various points of the campus. The library is well equipped and organised to enable convenient studies for all students.
I felt secure living in the student accommodation thanks to the university protection service and the accommodation is provided with lots of health and safety equipment. I lived in Priory Hall for the first few months of being at Coventry University and I am now living in a house that is managed by the university.
Coventry is a vibrant city and the Ricoh Arena is a great events venue and the biggest IKEA in the UK is just a few minute’s walk away from the university.
Memorable Experiences
My most memorable experience at Coventry University was the ‘One World Week’ programme that was organised by the student union which expressed the most cultures present on campus. There was a variety of food (Chinese, African & Indian), there was a taste of the fashion in different cultures on the fashion parade. It was really great.
When I leave University I would like to experience other countries, I believe that there is very much to get from such life experiences.
