Find out what our students say about life at Coventry University
Through the careers service at the University, I secured interviews in the UK and Europe for major companies. I will now be spending a year on work placement at General Motors.
I've made great friends with people from all over the world and the facilities are great. The lecturers are in industry, so getting access to their first-hand knowledge is priceless.
When I decided to come to the UK for my Undergraduate degree, I chose Coventry University because of its reputation in the engineering world and its excellent links with industry. The classes are well organised and the labs and tutorials blend with the lectures perfectly.
During my university life, my best experience was my placement year. With the help of the university, I got a placement on one of the world’s biggest capital infrastructure projects in transport, working as a government employee with London Underground Ltd. My designation was Assistant Technical Manager my main responsibility was to assist the project manager. In my first year, I co-founded and was elected President of the Coventry University Bangladeshi Society. During my time with the society, I helped many Bangladeshi students to get settled into life in Coventry.
I am now in my final year and have been elected as the Faculty Councillor of the University Students’ Union. I am also acting as the student representative of the engineering and computing department. I have been employed by the university as a student ambassador where I represent our university to prospective students.
The City itself is quiet, cost effective to live in and student friendly. I would definitely recommend it as a place to come and study.
Coventry is a sweet place. It’s multicultural with strange weather! The East-Asia team in the International Office helped from application, to visa, to airport pick up and even accommodation.
