Coventry University is a friendly, multi-racial environment with around 900 Africans studying from an overall student population of around 30,000 students. The Nigerian cohort represents the highest from any one single African country due to its estimated 150 million population. We all integrated well into the University and one amazing thing about the school is the ease at which students can reach and interact with the University staff and management. The city of Coventry is also a peaceful place and presents an atmosphere of calm and serenity suitable for academic pursuits and social integration.

When I arrived at Coventry, I noted that there was no forum for interaction amongst the Nigerian students. A few of us decided to start the Association of Nigerian Students and within a short time, with the help of the Students’ Union and the International Office, we were up and running. We held events, one of which was celebrating the first ever Nigeria Day in the University and we participated in ‘Black History Month’ which is traditionally held in October every year in the UK.

I found my year as President very challenging and quite stressful at times but very rewarding and I learnt a lot about managing and motivating people. Despite these demands on my time I was supported by an excellent student committee.
On the academic front, I was awarded a Master’s degree in International Business with a Distinction. My graduation was at the famous Coventry Cathedral which provided a beautiful and memorable world-class setting for my convocation. I will never forget that wonderful day shared with my fellow graduates from all over the World.

I will always remember my time at Coventry University with fond memories and I recommend this University without hesitation.
