Disabled Student Engagement Project

The Disabled Student Engagement Project (DSEP) is Coventry University’s contribution to the national project Meaningful Student Engagement (MSE) in Higher Education which is supported by the Higher Education Academy and the National Union of Students and runs from 1 December 2010 until 30 November 2011.

Coventry was one of the ten HEIs selected from 22 applicants to take part in this project. The national MSE project was designed to build on the findings from an earlier project that reported considerable variation in the extent to which HE institutions were meeting their legal obligations for involving disabled students in processes and systems.

This new initiative aimed to facilitate the empowerment of disabled students to take responsibility for their own learning and specifically to engage them in influencing the 'formation of policy and practice' that can affect their ability to study in many different ways.
