About the Degree show 2011

The CSAD 2011 degree show highlights the final year creative work of students, drawn from a wide range of courses across the visual arts, design, music, fashion, performance, media and communication. At a time of financial stringencies, this year’s show is a timely reminder of the potential economic, social and cultural contribution that graduates can make to the creative industries, the arts and wider society.

The exhibition signals the future impact of the graduates and their work and how it might take many forms - from helping to sustain the rich and diverse artistic reputation of the UK, developing the products and services that can enhance lives whilst contributing to the manufacturing economy, to designing for urgent needs in areas such as health, disability and environmental sustainability.

The show also demonstrates how the broad-based student experience, transferable skills and creative flair provides students with broad personal career choices - either within their original creative practice or beyond, in areas such as teaching, research, management, consultancy or entrepreneurship.

You will find intriguing and original work that takes many forms including multi-media and digital presentations, art works, products, jewelry, photography, drama/dance presentations, graphics, illustration, craft work, journalism, experimental music and fashion.

The annual degree show is a major arts event, attracting visitors from across the city, region and UK - from potential employers, media people, entrepreneurs looking for new business ideas, talent spotters - to those simply interested in the 'next big thing' and family and friends. We hope you will join them and us to explore how the next generation of creative graduates is already making its mark.
